3 Easy Harajuku Girl Hallowe'en Costumes

Hi there! Last year I did a post sharing some tips and ideas compiled in a broad list of costume ideas for Hallowe'en, but this year, I thought I'd focus on one that's caught my eye which are Harajuku girls! Ever since I got one Gwen Stefani's (I believe, don't quote me on that) Harajuku fragrances in Baby, I became really fascinated with how crazy awesome their outfits are.

Of course, some - actually, a lot - of the stuff can be hard to get your hands on, so I tried to pick pieces that are either already in your closet or easily accessible at any clothing store. Enjoy!

This outfit was inspired by this photo that I came across while looking up some Harajuku style and immediately fell in love with its edgier vibe compared to some of the other girlier ensembles. I picked out a midi plaid skirt paired with a white button down layered under a loose lilac graphic tee. To add to the preppy feel of the skirt, I opted for a black beret and some black platforms for some height. I find that platforms are pretty darn comfortable, so these are great to be able to walk around all night whether you're still trick-or-treating at this age (hey! I'm not judging), handing out candy to the little ones, or heading to a party.

I've always loved the colour pink and while I was doing my research, I saw a lot of pink. For a girlier outfit, I went for a simple patterned dress with a bubblegum pink sweater overtop. For some extra colour, I added a cool cat pendant necklace and pastel rainbow stud earrings. To keep in theme with the cat necklace, I went for cat tights and some pink sneakers to finish off that playful feel. If you want a dressier look, you could always swap them out for heeled shoes.

Depending on where you're going to be on Hallowe'en and whether that's going to be inside our outdoors, you might or might not need the jacket. I went for whites in this one with a nice textured dress and white wedged sneakers to go with that. Since Harajuku girls seem to favour tights and socks, I went for a pair of rose ones as well as some socks that would peek out of the top of the sneakers. For accessories, I added a rose flower crown that acts as a nice contrast against the black, white, and neutrals and a pair of striking black cascade earrings to finish it off.
